The way we should be receiving the Torah on Shavuot is as if we are actually receiving the Torah like we did on Mount Sinai but why ? Surely receiving it once is enough? We receive it ,then we learn and apply it,live it etc Here is the epic paradigm shift The person,you, who received the Torah last year is not the same person who will receive the Torah this year .Change is one of life's laws ,you are either going forward or backwards as stagnation never lasts so the person receiving the Torah this year will receive it differently according to who they are now , the latest and hopefully best version of themselves to date and so the cycle goes because being that the Torah ,the manual for living the Divine life and the Divine Eternity that is Hashem, is unlimited we can therefore always take it higher .The better the version of yourself you present each year will determine G-D willing the depth,the breadth of Torah that you will receive no matter who you are right now or what has been said or done. If G-D has granted you another day-YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE IT HIGHER
